Sunny Happy Chestnut Hill mid-century walkable to everything! 575,000 Listed Friday May 28th PENDING WITHIN 24 HOURS! PENDING JULY Aftermany wonderful years living in this home, I am selling my much loved
home. From the first time I entered this house it has been such a
bright, happy home. Of the many mid-century homes I have seen I believe
this one has one of the strongest connections to the out doors that I
have ever seen. The incredible gardens are designed as true
extensions of the rooms. The home is a true oasis with an ipe deck off
the living room and flagstone patio off the kitchen to view gardens.
The walls of windows are expansive facing south east in the dining
room, south in the living room and the ceilings are high throughout.
The deciduous trees and overhangs allow the perfect summer light, but
strong sunlight (and solar heat) throughout the winter days. It also
is a rare example of a mid-century that still has its original
integrity but combined with modern improvements. The materials and feel
of the home is timeless. The compactness of the design is also
remarkable. The home was designed by the noted firm of John Sweet and
Milton Schwartz in 1955. Although each of the rooms feel generous in
size the and total square footage is a very manageable 1700 sq ft. I
feel the home is in a perfect location on a quiet culdsac of other
classic modern homes. It is steps form multiple entrances into the
Wissahickon and a short walk to the village of Chestnut Hill and region
rail station. It also is a quick ride into center with easy access to
surrounding expressways. The home is 3 bedrooms 2 baths, with an
additional entertainment room, workshop area and laundry room and
garage. The home has low utility costs and is very easy to maintain
with a wonderful moss front yard and established perennial beds in the
back, no mowing required.
For those who have watched my website I wanted to post photos of my new home as of July. It is a true classic and I am excited to be the new steward for it!

Pending Aug 2015 Perched
on a scenic hill, this unique Mid-Century Modern home by a renowned
Swedish architect has been thoughtfully designed to capture the essence
of the outdoors in the spacious light-filled interior. The extensive
use of glass with full window walls in nearly every room and open
design concept forges a harmonious integration with nature, while
optimizing views and the tranquil ambiance of the living/entertaining
areas. Complementing the natural light filtering in from multiple
angles are variations in elevation throughout, reflected in floating
steps between rooms that create a split-level living environment and
partial walls of different heights that add depth to the overall space.
Outdoors you'll enjoy being surrounded by nature on the new wraparound
deck during all four seasons, savoring sweeping scenery and verdant
greenery from abundant trees as you relax to the soothing sounds of
chirping birds. Though you'll feel lost in privacy at the end of a
cul-de-sac, you'll take pride knowing you live on one of Gladwyne's
most desirable, prestigious streets close to everything the area has to
offer, from the shops and restaurants of the village to Center City
Philadelphia. A lovely overhang and Zen Garden with a Japanese maple,
crushed stone and flagstone walkway beautify the main entryway. Inside
the Reception Hall the charm continues with vaulted exposed wood beamed
ceilings, slate and hardwood flooring, contemporary track lighting, a
graceful floating staircase and other distinctive features. An open
floor plan optimizes the flow for entertaining yet assures built-in
privacy for residents, particularly in the vaulted master suite loft
that occupies the second floor and affords owners a luxurious escape
with stunning views, en-suite bath and fitted closets. The
generously-sized living room with cathedral beamed ceiling, fireplace
and deck access overlooking the yard and valley below opens into the
formal dining room that faces the deck area. A gourmet kitchen with a
breakfast bar, granite counters and stainless appliances, adjacent
breakfast room that opens to the deck, study/home office, laundry room
and powder room complete the main level. The ground-floor offers a
comfortable family room with a floor-to-ceiling brick fireplace,
storage/mechanicals areas, 2 connecting bedrooms, and full bath with
radiant heated tile flooring.
